A bit of history
Remko Oude Hengel worked at Drost Juten Notarissen for 25 years, first as a candidate notary and from 2010 as a notary and co-owner. Over the years, his need grew to handle more specialized, even more personal and more ‘hands-on’ cases and to help clients, particularly in the field of corporate law and family law. This desire for specialization and direct involvement in all respects has been expressed in the establishment of an office with a compact, flat organization: Notary Oude Hengel.
Remko is the successor to the following Hague notaries:
Ms. A.C. Gerritsen, 1992-2010
G.W. Krabbe, 1969-1992
A.I.J. van Buggenum, 1952-1969
W.G. Pauwels, 1913-1952
The team
The team consists of Remko Oude Hengel and Adea Memik. They also work closely with various former colleagues and other specialists.
Remko Oude Hengel
Remko Oude Hengel studied notarial law at the University of Groningen and completed this study in 2000. From that moment on, he worked at Drost Juten Notarissen. First as a candidate notary and from 2010 as a notary.
In 2024, he very consciously took the step to go back to basics and continue the practice on a small scale and even more personally with a limited number of specializations. That is why he started Notary Oude Hengel.
Remko specializes in corporate law and family law. He assists the clients of Notary Oude Hengel in an accessible, knowledgeable and calm manner, while keeping an eye on the interests of all parties involved.
Remko: ‘As a notary, I am involved in various important moments in the lives of my clients. When the door of the consultation room is closed, the atmosphere is immediately open and familiar. That makes my work so fun and special.’
Remko is married to Ellen, has three children, lives in The Hague and can also be found regularly in Twente.
Adea Memik
Adea has been working with Remko for years and from the start at Notaris Oude Hengel. The freedom to work independently and the space for personal growth makes her feel in her element here.
In her free time, she regularly visits a museum, scours thrift shops or can be found in the Filmhuis. She shares her apartment with her two tomcats and a growing collection of West-Germany ceramics.
The office building
Notaris Oude Hengel is housed on the first floor of a typical The Hague mansion in the Amaliastraat, located on the edge of the historic center of The Hague. Literally around the corner from Noordeinde Palace. The building has been a national monument since 1967. The website of Monumentenzorg Den Haag states:
Statwly home from around 1860, of harmonious architecture and of historical value, of general importance as part of the 19th century urban development.
